Enea

ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development) is the second major Italian research organization. The Agency’s activities are mainly focused on Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy Sources, Nuclear Energy, Climate and the Environment, Safety and Health, New Technologies, Electric System Research. The coordinator S. Baccaro (Dept. for Fusion and Nuclear Safety Technologies) is the Calliope Irradiation Plant Director and has great expertise on radiation detectors, optical components and scintillators (optical fibers, crystals and glasses) applied in High Energy Physics experiments, such as CMS ECAL experiment at LHC CERN and Belle II experiment at SuperKEKB (Japan). She published more than 100 papers in this topic and has developed strong collaborations with the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics, CERN, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, East China Univ. of Science and Technology and Indian Univ. Kanya Maha Vidyalaya. Role in the network: investigation of scintillating materials properties and radiation resistance by evaluation of their performances before and after gamma irradiation tests carried out at the 60Co Calliope irradiation facility (ENEA Casaccia R.C.); irradiation tests in air/under vacuum/inert atmosphere and at RT or different ; dosimetric services (Fricke, Red Perspex, Alanine and TLD dosimeters); irradiation and dosimetric certification.
